... Or "Just who is this Loendal guy, anyway?"
My name is Carl, I've been playing games for more years than it is healthy to admit. I am married and proud father of a lovely 8 year old named Robert. I was at one point attending DeVry University for their Game and Simulation Programming degree, but due to a new job and Robert, I simply do not have the time to devote to college any longer. The college career has died, but my dream of making my own games has not and due to that, I am currently teaching myself C#.
I've been creating games and gaming systems since I was a little boy. I had even at one point created an entire game system for my GI Joe's. Everything had a movement rate, rate of fire, damage and defenses. All written out and cataloged for reference, balanced for fairness and created all in the name of fun. This has been an ongoing trend in my life, and when I finished up High School, I went to College to learn how to program. They didn't even come close to teaching me anything like I wanted to know, and instead were concentrating on things like COBOL and I quickly lost interest, got caught up in some personal issues and wound up quitting. I've tried to go back many times, all met with subsequent failures and expenses that I wish I hadn't made.
But the dream still lives on, and Neuhnee is the hopeful culmination of those dreams. While it's not done yet, I have it all out on Paper and the system is in place. I just lack the code-knowledge to put it into a game, but that's where I'm learning. I plan on creating a game world that is built by the players, for the players and controlled by the players. In my long-running experiences with games I have seen good and bad concepts and ideas, and I plan on taking the best of these and discarding the worst in favor of creating a new game that people will enjoy.
I welcome you to my world and want you to know that I read all ideas and comments placed here by those who come to discuss this possible future. I will also challenge your ideas (or agree with them) and hope to create debate and discussion on various slices of the gaming mindset. Everyone has a voice, but not everyone has the capability or willingness to listen. I happen to have both
